The
CTX-888 Adds Next-Generation Transmitter Capabilities to L-3's
Growing Line of Space Products
San
Diego, CA, March 6, 2002 - The Conic enterprise of L-3 Communications'
(NYSE:LLL) newly formed Telemetry-West division announced
today that it is introducing the CTX-888, an ultra high data
rate transmitter for use on-board today's latest technology
remote sensing satellites. L-3 Conic's CTX-888 builds on the
successful heritage of the CTX-886 QPSK transmitter now flying
on multiple domestic and international remote sensing satellites.
The CTX-888 and the CTX-886 provide the same compliance with
FCC, ITU and NTIA emission standards. L-3 Conic is currently
accepting transmitter orders for all future generation remote
sensing satellites.
The
CTX-888 utilizes 8-PSK modulation to achieve data transmission
rates up to, and in excess of, 800 Mbps. With either 6- or
10-watt RF output, differential encoding, code conversion
and ECL or LVDS interfaces, the CTX-888 meets the needs of
the entire remote sensing industry. Additional features include
radiation hardness, low DC power consumption and the capability,
with additional conversion circuitry, to operate at Ku- and
Ka-band frequencies - all in a single, compact package.
"Our
new CTX-888 signals a significant advance in data transmitter
technology and positions L-3 as a major supplier in the industry
capable of meeting the high data rate transmission requirements
of the newest fleet of remote sensing satellites," said Tom
Giesemann, space products marketing director for L-3 Telemetry-West.
"A strong demand for this capability is projected to support
future commercial, civil and military imaging needs."
